Hebron University’s Role in Advancing SDG 9: Fuelling Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure in Palestine

Building resilient infrastructure, fostering inclusive and sustainable industrialization, and encouraging innovation are all key components of Sustainable Development Goal 9 (SDG 9). Hebron University, which is located in Palestine, is dedicated to assisting in the achievement of SDG 9 by fostering inventive education, research, and partnerships that foster economic growth and technical advancement. Innovation is prioritized in Hebron University instructional strategy. The institution provides courses that encourage critical thinking, problem-solving, and creativity to provide students the tools they need to progress technology across a range of industries. Graduates are equipped to contribute to the development of sectors of the economy that depend on innovation to gain a competitive edge.

The Contrast Center is detailing the workshop series for the first semester

The Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning concluded a series of training workshops in several areas, including education based on scientific research, community education, learner-centered education, and cognitive psychology. A group of university professors from various colleges participated in them, and they continued throughout the current semester. Training workshops from university professors specialized in the fields of training from the faculties of education, law, political science, science, and information technology.

The College of Information Technology participates in the ACM International Programming Competition at the level of Arab and African universities.

The Faculty of Information Technology at Hebron University participated in the International Programming Competition at the level of Arab and African universities (ACM-ACPC-2022), which was held in the city of Sharm El-Sheikh in the Arab Republic of Egypt in the period 6 - 02 December, after the Faculty of Information Technology team won. In the PCPC competition, he achieved third place at the level of Palestinian universities. About 200 teams, the elite of universities in Arab and African countries, participated in the competition and qualified to participate in this competition. It is worth noting that the number of teams participating in this competition in the first qualifiers (at the local level for each country) amounted to about 5,000 teams, of which 200 teams qualified to participate in the second qualifiers (at the level of the Arab world).


Hebron University participates in the National Forum for Creativity and Excellence and wins in the Scientific Research category

Hebron University won the Best Scientific Research Award within the activities of the Seventh National Forum for Creativity, Excellence and Future Skills, which is organized by the Supreme Council for Creativity and Excellence in Ramallah under the patronage of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas. The research was prepared by Professor Aseel Al-Najjar, Dr. Nabil Hasasneh, Acting President of the University, and Professor Dr. Mario Macedo from the University of Atlantica in Portugal. The research presents an expert software system to guide high school students to choose their academic major at the university.

Participation of the College of Science and Technology in the Science and Innovation Forum 2022

The College of Science and Technology at Hebron University participated in the Science and Innovation Forum 2022 organized by the United Nations’ FAO in Rome, Italy. The forum’s activities continued for four days, including many events and conferences, which aim to formulate FAO’s policies for the coming years 2022-2030.

The College of Information Technology wins third place among Palestinian universities in the national programming competition

The team of the Faculty of Information Technology at Hebron University (CodeKnights), consisting of (Mohamed Bilal Al-Sharif, Mohamed Abdel Ghaffar Al-Shaarawi, and Lama Ibrahim Hafez) won third place in the National Programming Competition for Palestinian University Students ACM-PCPC 2022, which was held under the patronage of the Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Dr. Ishaq Sidr in the city of Rawabi in Ramallah on Monday, 10/10/2022.
