Hebron University - Research Overview

Overview

At Hebron University, we are committed to achieving excellence in research and scholarship, and to ensuring that our research contributes to the well-being of society. We seek to provide a creative and supportive environment in which ideas are generated and can flourish. The excellence and diversity of our research across the Schools of Arts , Science and Technology, Agriculture, Finance and Management, Nursing, Education, Pharmacy and Medical Science, and Law, and our role as the first university in Palestine means that in addition to our achievements in fundamental research, we are also well-positioned to make significant contributions to the local and regional innovation agenda and, by conveying the implications of our research to contribute to the formulation of policy.

We have identified a number of strategic research initiatives and networks and interdisciplinary research centers which build on the existing Research Centers in HU to tackle challenges that can only be addressed by multi-disciplinary teams of researchers. Our aim is to provide academic leadership in these areas and to develop strategic partnerships around the world to advance research, and the impact of that research, in these fields.

To continue providing an excellent environment for learning, we aim to invest significantly in new and renewed facilities. Every design will have as its guiding principle the need to stimulate the interdisciplinary and collaborative culture that drives both world-leading research and research-led teaching.

Objectives

  • Attract, appoint, develop, reward and retain the most able academic, research and support staff.
  • As a globally connected, research-led university, we will try to be part of the solution to the community's pressing problems.
  • Make our research stand out locally and globally.
  • Champion and nurture outstanding interdisciplinary activity that operates at the forefront of knowledge and drives both research and research-oriented teaching.
  • Ensure that staff, students, teaching and research all have a positive impact on society at large – particularly with regards to knowledge transfer and policy making – and that the economic, social and cultural benefits of our research are properly highlighted.
