Aims & Goals of the Program

The main aim of the program is to provide the Palestinian community with scientists and researchers specialized in medicinal plants science.

Program Goals:

• Increase students' knowledge regarding uses, side effects, interactions between herbs and interactions between herbs and medications.
• Increase students' analytical skills and work on the discovery of medications from medicinal plants.
• Provide students with the necessary skills in preparing preparations of medicinal plants.
• Enhance students' research skills in the field of medicinal plants.
• Enhance students' ability to describe and advise effectively on the safe use of medicinal plants.
• Create a skilled to meet the current and future needs of human resources in the development of medicinal plants resources.
• Extraction and preparation of active substances from medicinal plants and study their medical and industrial applications.
• Identify biologically active ingredients for preparation of new products from medicinal plants for treatment and / or cosmetic purposes.
• Provide graduates with knowledge of the legal requirements for the production of new products from medicinal plants for treatment and / or cosmetic purposes.
• Identification, characterization and classification of Palestinian medicinal and aromatic plants. Establishment of a database and basic records of Palestinian medicinal and aromatic plants based on scientific classification.
• Preserve rare species and reproduce lost species of medicinal plants.
