HU holds Health Awareness Day about Cancer


 

Under the motto "Hand in Hand" and in cooperation with Patient’s Friends Society-Jerusalem, Hebron University held an awareness day about cancer prevention, early screening and psychological support to patients during the treatment of this disease. The event was attended by a large number of representatives of women's and health sector, HU president Dr. Salah Alzaroo, Vice-President for Administrative Affairs Mr. Mohammad Zaid El-Jabari, and a number of HU staff members and students.


Dr. Alzaroo welcomed the participants and delivered a speech in which he emphasized the support of HU Board of Trustees, Administration and students to the role played by charities in the dissemination of health education and awareness in the Palestinian society. He also highlighted the role of preventive health, saying it should receive more attention from all the relevant authorities.


The Day activities included a lecture by the Medical Director at Al-Ahli Hospital Dr. Jihad Shawer on breast cancer and methods of treatment. He pointed out to the large increase in the rates of infected cases and stressed the importance of the dissemination of health awareness among different segments of the society.

Ms. Suhaila Qaraeen Director of PFS Projects talked about the size of public challenges which cancer patients usually encounter, and she expressed her appreciation to the supportive role played by Al-Shouruq Group (women who survived) in the dissemination of such campaigns through social networks, brochures, flyers, etc.  At the end of her speech, she thanked Hebron University for its support to such campaigns.
