71120   English for Health Professions

This course is intended exclusively for nursing students who need to develop their proficiency in the English used both in studying nursing subjects and in performing the nursing profession. The focus of this course is on the development of reading and writing skills, with an emphasis on building general as well as specialized vocabulary items related to the nursing context. Students are prompted to develop effective reading as well as writing strategies including dictionary usage, note-taking, inferring, summarizing, critical thinking, sentence and short-paragraph writing, etc

71332   Biostatistics for Nursing

An introduction to statistics with applications in public health, biomedicine, and the biological sciences. Design of public health surveys and biomedical experiments and drawing appropriate conclusions from statistical analyses are emphasized. Topics of discussion include fundamental concepts of data collection and organization, techniques of descriptive and inferential statistics with applications in nursing, health care, medicine, public health, and epidemiology exploratory data analysis, one- and two sample tests. Basic statistics, including probability, descriptive statistics, inferences for means and proportions are presented. All statistical concepts and procedures will be implemented using public health and biomedical data using SPSS

This course includes practical experiments on bacteria; isolation methods, staining procedures and biochemical testing. Culture media preparation, sterilization methods, bacterial cultivation and identification. Disinfectants and antiseptic agents effects on microbial growth. Antibiotic-sensitivity testing

71253   Microbiology for Nursing

This course offers comprehensive knowledge on bacteria, including their structure, morphology, and classification of microorganisms. It also covers methods for controlling microorganisms, provides an introduction to pathogenesis and immunity, and explores key bacterial and viral infections

71203   Nutrition for Nursing

This course includes studying basic information in nutrition science by studying various food groups, their sources, and their importance. During the study of this course, students will be introduced to the nutritional guide for humans at all stages of development, as well as the nutritional guide for pregnant and breastfeeding mothers, as well as some cases with special nutritional needs. 71221   Health Promotion & Therapeutic Communication

This course is developed to help the student nurse to consider the total health of the person, family and community by connecting the physical, mental, socio-cultural, religious and moral needs. The course emphasizes on comprehensive health promotion approaches, rather than on specific controlled remedies. The course also centers on communication and education approaches and techniques relevant to the provision of healthcare to individuals and groups. The course is designed to help the student nurse to explore and examine the basic knowledge and skills of communication in health/illness context; sort of therapeutic skills, and build new experiences that will help the student to develop a goal-directed relationship that will introduce change in self and others, and to help reach a higher level of wellness. The aim of this course is to introduce the student nurse into the concepts of health promotion and prepare them to take lead in promotional activities in various settings

71301   Health Care Clinical Business Process

This course provides nursing students with a foundational understanding of healthcare business processes, focusing on how clinical care intersects with organizational management, finance, and operational efficiency. Students will explore the critical components of healthcare business, including patient flow management, clinical documentation, revenue cycle processes, budgeting, and the regulatory and compliance requirements that affect daily nursing practices. Emphasis is placed on understanding how these business processes impact patient outcomes, healthcare quality, and resource utilization

This course provides an introduction to the general principles, concepts and techniques related to different types of health care information systems and their uses for the different health purposes, including clinical information systems (i.e., EHRs, pharma systems, lab systems), administrative information systems (i.e., admission, discharge & billing system), consumer information systems, personnel management systems, and some specific and specialized systems

This course introduces nursing students to the fundamental concepts of health economics, focusing on the economic factors that influence healthcare delivery and nursing practice. Students will learn how economic principles apply to healthcare systems, exploring topics such as healthcare costs, resource allocation, health insurance, and the impact of health policies on patient care. The course emphasizes the importance of cost-effectiveness, efficiency, and equity in healthcare and provides nursing students with tools to make informed decisions about patient care in a resource- constrained environment

72204   Family and Reproductive Health

This course will focus on the midwife role in the postpartum period and the gynecological disorder that women may be experiencing through her life cycle. It  will focus on immediate postpartum managements, breast feeding, newborn care, normal and abnormal  peurpereum physiological and psychological changes, also it will emphasize on the management of puerperal complication and emergencies. 

Also focusing in midwifery to assess and manage women with different gynecological conditions

71310   Human Growth & Development

This course examines the physical, cognitive, and psychosocial development across the human lifespan. It integrates key theories and research, emphasizing how biological, environmental, and cultural factors influence growth. Students will apply this knowledge to support individualized, evidence-based care for patients at various life stages

71225   Psychotherapy

This course, provides an introduction to a psychoanalytic understanding of the human mind and to specific principles of psychodynamic psychotherapy and counseling at an elementary level.We will study human development through a psychoanalytic lens – exploring key psychoanalytic concepts, complex mental health presentations, and how we view difference and diversity in the life of individuals, groups and organizations.

Students are supported to connect with a network of colleagues and peers around the world, to think together about psychoanalytic ideas and placement work, and to develop observational skills – all within their own unique social and cultural contexts.

71226   Health Services Development

This course is designed to introduce nursing students to the principles and practices involved in developing and improving health services. Students will explore the stages of health service development, from assessing community health needs and designing patient-centered services to implementing, managing, and evaluating healthcare programs. Key topics include project planning, quality improvement, resource management, and strategies for addressing disparities in access to care

71200   Pathophysiology

This course provides an in depth study of the pathogenesis of human disease as a consequence of abnormalities and alterations of normal physiological function. Regulatory and compensatory mechanisms that aim at maintaining and restoring homeostasis in response to changes in the internal and external environment are explored. This course tackles all body systems with an emphasis on the nursing care and interventions aiming at providing a more comprehensive patient care. Upon completion, students should be able to demonstrate a detailed knowledge of Pathophysiology. Course topics include the etiology, physical signs and symptoms, prognosis, and complications of commonly occurring diseases and their management.

This course is complement to medical surgical 1 and 2 courses, by dividing some of the topics from above mentioned courses to the pathophysiology course.

This introductory course is designed to provide new College of Nursing students with initial information about the history of nursing, educational programs, professional and practical fields of nursing, specifications and roles of the registered nurse. This course also studies various nursing theories and practical models in order to know the levels of progress in the nursing profession at the present time. This course also introduces students to the structure of the modern health system and the advanced role of nursing in this structure

71105   Anatomy and Physiology (I)

This course is designed to provide a basic knowledge about the structures & functions of the human body, starting from the cell & all chemicals within the cell, & goes through body structures that make up various body systems. It provides a brief overview of the interrelationship between the body systems & puts emphasis on the body homeostasis & the control systems that maintain it. It’s continued by anatomy & physiology ΙΙ

71115   Fundamentals of Adult Nursing (I) Theory

This course provides opportunities to develop nursing competencies which are necessary for the individuals needs throughout the lifespan in a safe, legal, and ethical manner using the nursing process. Students learn concepts and theories basic to the art and science of nursing. The role of the nurse as a member of the healthcare team is emphasized. Also, this course introduces the student to the communication & interpersonal relation skills to prepare him or her to become effective members of a collaborative health care team. Critical thinking and decision making will be emphasized as a guide for safe competent skillful nursing practice

71116   Fundamentals of Adult Nursing (I) Clinical

This clinical course is designed to provide the nursing student with supervised & guided laboratory experiences with emphasis on the student’s independent learning that will assist him/her to master the basic nursing skills.  

These skills are presented according to the functional health patterns that are in parallel with the knowledge provided for the student in the theory course, in order to prepare the student to implement holistic care in clinical settings for client, throughout the life span.

71111   Fundamentals of Physical Evaluation Theory

This course is designed to provide the nursing students with essential knowledge and attitudes necessary to perform a comprehensive health assessment utilizing the skills of interviewing and history taking as well as skills in physical examination and psychosocial assessment, using inspection, palpation, percussion, and auscultation methods. Normal assessment findings, frequently seen variations from normal and cultural differences are discussed.

Also this course introduces the student to the communication and interpersonal relation skills to prepare him/her to become an effective member of a collaborative health care team. Critical thinking and decision making will be emphasized as a guide for safe, competent and skillful nursing practice

71112   Fundamentals of Physical Evaluation Clinical

This course is designed to provide students with the opportunity to learn and practice history taking and physical examination skills with individuals of all ages, with emphasis on the adult.  Great emphasis will be put on identifying deviations from normal findings along with physical, psychosocial, and growth and development assessments. Students will be able to utilize critical thinking skills in identifying health alterations, formulating nursing diagnoses and documenting findings appropriate to Nursing

71113   Infection Control

Infections are a major safety and health hazard. Some infections are minor and cause short illnesses. Others are serious and can cause death. Infections can be especially serious for vulnerable infants and older persons. Caregivers and medical professionals have an important role in protecting patients, residents, visitors and themselves from infection.

The general objective of this course is to provide nursing students and health care workers with the tools to enable them to implement the infection control program effectively in order to protect themselves and others from the transmission of infections

This course is designed as a continuation course for anatomy and physiology (1), to cover the rest of the body systemsو structures and organs. Also to discuss their function and its relationship with each other

71212    Fundamentals of Adult Nursing (II) Theory

This course is considered a continuation of the theoretical basics of nursing course, as it provides nursing students with the necessary and basic information in nursing 1, which will help them understand the comprehensive concept of health care in all its aspects, as well as the ability to plan and implement nursing operations in order to meet the needs of patients and beneficiaries of various health services.

71213   Fundamentals of Adult Nursing (II) Clinical

This is a complementary course designed to provide the student nurse with the nursing skills to be used in clinical settings in order to prepare the students to implement holistic care competencies when dealing with different patients

71207   Pharmacology for Nursing (I)

The aim of this course is to give the basic rules of pharmacology, in a modern and advanced manner to suit the needs of nursing work. The focus in this course will be on drug groups and the basic examples in these groups, away from the detailed repetition of the group of different medications. It also addresses the latest findings on the effectiveness of drugs and their uses in clinical treatment, so that nurses can understand these mechanisms and information so that they can play their essential role in completing the treatment process based on their responsibilities in administering drug substances.

In each drug group, the drug effectiveness, the method of action of the drug, the uses of drugs in treatment and drug interactions will be discussed, in addition to the role of the nurse in administering these substances and following up on the results and what is related to the nursing role in this regard, and guiding patients to the proper use of medications

71206   Medical Surgical Nursing (I) Theory

This course is designed to provide students with the appropriate knowledge and positive attitudes to care for individuals and their families. This course focuses on responding to the patient's physical, psychological and social needs of an individual suffering from actual and expected health problems affecting functional health patterns in the short and long term, and following a series of " Steps in the nursing process" As a theoretical framework for the course, starting from the nursing diagnosis of the condition, the desired goals, and the nursing intervention " Mechanism of action " Aiming at promoting health, preventing the occurrence of disease, and preserving the health of the individual, family, and community

71215   Medical Surgical Nursing (I) Clinical

This course is complementary to the “Medical Surgical Nursing” course Ι - theoretical" In practice, it focuses on responding to the physical, psychological, and social needs of a patient with real or expected health problems that affect functional health patterns. Students train in different hospital departments for a total of one hundred and sixty-nine hours, which gives them the opportunity to care for patients, and aims to develop students’ skills and the ability to make appropriate decisions and link practical reality with the theoretical aspect.

71210   Pharmacology for Nursing (II)

This course will be complementary to part one of pharmacology for Nursing. It will cover the groups of medication acting on the various body systems. Also, discuss the mechanism of action for medication, uses and drug-drug interaction. It will focus on the role of nursing staff in dealing with different types of therapeutic agents

71209   Ethics for Health Professions

The course focuses on ethical theories, concepts and principles which relate to the international nursing code of ethics.

Also it takes in considerations the profession and professional issues relevant to the nursing practice. The course is designed to enrich the nursing student with basic understanding of ethical principles and guidelines, which will help them in decision making in issues with ethical considerations and dilemmas.

Also stimulate nursing students for critical thinking when discussing ethical and legal principles in general, and issues related to Palestinian community in specific. This course focuses on ethical issues in the daily work of professional nurse in relation to general nursing care. The course introduces students to theories, principles and ethical legal issues in general and discusses it in relation to Palestinian context in specific 

71223   Palliative Care

This course focuses on the palliative care modalities for patients with a life limiting illness –in hospital or at home, young or old, rich or poor, and how to assess, manage and control their needs, as well as their family needs. Several topics will be discussed; including basics of palliative care, symptoms load, coping strategies, communication in special situations, and more

71302   Medical Surgical Nursing (II) Theory

This is a continuation course for medical surgical 1 focuses on the bio-psycho-social responses of client to a selected disorders, gastrointestinal tract , urinary tract, muskelo –skeletal, dermatology and immunologic function. The nursing process will be used as a framework to formulate and provide the care for the patients and their families

71303   Medical Surgical Nursing (II) Clinical

This course is a continuation for medical surgical theory 71302 which will focus on the biopsycho-social responses of adults to actual and potential conditions that affect their functional health patterns. Clinical practice will provide an opportunity for the student to care for clients with alterations in functional health patterns in a variety of clinical settings utilizing the nursing process. They will be able to develop clinical decision-making skills and incorporate theory into practice process. 71304   Elderly Nursing Theory

This is two credit theoretical hours aims to introduce nursing students to theories and concepts of aging and to provide an important information on how to take care of the older adult. Also to pinpoint the major changes associated with this process, i.e. physiological and psychosocial, then decide the appropriate nursing interventions accordingly. Also at this course, the nursing student will be introduced to the major theories, myths, and social roles. Ethical and legal aspects of caring for the elderly are also addressed in light of Palestinian context

71314   Elderly Nursing Clinical

This course is complementary to the course " Geriatric and Rehabilitation Nursing Theory" From a practical standpoint, in bridging the gap between theoretical and practical reality, such that the nursing service reaches patients through teaching students and following them up during practical training in health centers, clinics, and various health institutions that care for elderly patients and those with special needs

71305   Maternity and Gynecology Nursing Theory

This course focuses on studying the physical, psychological, emotional, social and economic aspects related to women's and family life. The focus is on health care through applying the steps of the nursing process. This course includes a study of the health status of women during reproductive age, which includes pregnancy, childbirth, birth spacing and gynecological diseases, in addition to studying the growth and development of the fetus and providing direct care for the child after birth

71316   Maternity and Gynecology Nursing Clinical

This course aims to practically apply nursing skills and embody the knowledge that the student has acquired through the theoretical course regarding obstetrics and gynecology nursing, through direct work in obstetrics and gynecology departments in hospitals, and under the direct supervision of the supervising professors

71320   Pediatric Nursing Theory

This course takes a holistic approach to pediatric nursing, addressing the needs of both healthy and sick children at all stages of development. It recognizes children as unique individuals with distinct needs and characteristics, growing within the context of their families and society. The primary focus is on health promotion and disease prevention for children across various age groups. Topics will include the management of communicable diseases, clinical conditions, and strategies for treatment and rehabilitation when illness occurs.

Emphasis will be placed on the application of the nursing process in caring for healthy children, as well as in managing various health challenges. Students will gain the skills necessary to provide comprehensive care tailored to the developmental needs of pediatric patients

71321   Pediatric Nursing Clinical

This course equips students with the skills necessary to care for both healthy children and those with physical or psychological conditions. It includes comprehensive assessment of newborns, children, and adolescents, followed by the development and implementation of care plans addressing their physical and psychological needs. Students will evaluate the effectiveness of these interventions to ensure optimal outcomes

This course designed to introduce the students to mental health concepts, principles of behavioral and emotional deviations and techniques that are basic to the practice of nursing psychiatric and mental health care. The course provides the student with the knowledge base to apply selected theories, concepts and research in the nursing management of mental disorders in service users throughout the lifespan and in a variety of settings

71331   Mental Health for Nursing Clinical

This course is designed for the clinical training of students in psychiatric mental health services to allow them to practice the roles of registered nurse in those institutions specialized in this field. This course focuses on the importance of applying professional therapeutic communication, psychosocial counseling and improving the therapeutic environment for the clients

71402   Community Health Nursing Theory

This course information enhances the student's ability to link community health nursing concepts to public health concepts. This is in order to introduce effective means of developing society and maintaining its health by providing community health services of appropriate quality by focusing on the basic concepts in community health science, and introducing students to the multiple fields of community health science such as school health, occupational health, epidemiology, and concepts. Environmental health, communicable diseases...etc. As well as introducing students to the pioneering role of the nursing profession in these fields, which is imposed by developments and transformations in modern health systems

71411   Community Health Nursing Clinical

This course aligns with the theoretical community health nursing course through practical application of the fields of community health science. This course aims to provide students with practical skills through training and practice in community health clinics, health centers, schools and various related institutions. The students are implementing a project to study the health needs of a local community in the region, as well as participating in many educational activities and programs aimed at increasing health awareness in the field of disease prevention

71408   Methods of Health Research

Scientific research forms the basic basis of modern nursing science. This course was designed to help students develop their scientific and technical skills in scientific research, in order to contribute to the development of the nursing profession and its sciences by studying the basic concepts of scientific research. Its goal is its multiple methods to help students carry out scientific studies and research during their professional and practical future, and the ability to Apply the results of this research in their workplaces, in the health field, and in society in general

71421   Advanced Nursing Care Theory

This is a comprehensive course that is mainly designed to provide the student with the body of knowledge of various medical, and surgical health related diseases. Special consideration and emphasize will be placed upon the introduction of critical care nursing concepts. This course focuses on proper and fast nursing assessment in order to implement effective nursing interventions for critically ill patients and to prevent additional injury. The student’s capability to perform more complex patient centered nursing care skills is also a focus of this course.  Evidence-based practice and critical thinking skill development is focused on medication administration, intravenous therapy, laboratory and diagnostic testing, and patient treatments

71422   Advanced Nursing Care Clinical

This course will focus on the bio-psycho-social responses of clients to actual & potential conditions that affect their functional health patterns. Clinical practice will provide an opportunity for the student to care for adults with alternations in functional health patterns in a variety of critical clinical setting utilizing the nursing process. They will be able to develop advanced clinical decision –making skills & incorporate theory into practice process

71405   Nursing Administration Theory

This course was prepared to provide the student with the basic concepts and principles of management and leadership upon which the student’s ability to manage nursing care and make appropriate decisions is built. It also helps develop the student’s leadership ability that enables him to influence the quality of healthcare and bring about change when necessary. The administrative process is used in this course. A general framework for designing public content

71416   Nursing Administration Clinical

This course aims to raise the student's leadership and administrative level towards providing better service by giving him the leadership and administrative opportunity under the supervision of supervisors. As well as enhancing the leadership capabilities of students, raising the level and quality of health services provided, and contributing to raising the level of health institutions, through the effective application of the administrative process

71406   Nursing Seminar

The importance of this course lies in providing students with the opportunity to conduct studies that analyze, discuss, and detail concepts related to the professional aspects of nursing science, by studying current trends and issues in nursing and health care that are controversial and need continuous scientific research, as well as raising vital issues related to education, practice, and application in the nursing profession as topics for research and discussion. This course emphasizes the professional role of the nurse in our society as a pioneer, leader, and element capable of change for the better, through the topics presented for research and discussion during the course

71350   Clinical Nursing Internship

This course consists of 300 clinical hours which  provides clinical based learning opportunities to encourage application of theory and research-based knowledge in clinical practice. Students will engage in experiences to enhance the development of their professional nursing role.

71450   Comprehensive Exam for Nursing

This course is designed to prepare nursing students for their comprehensive examination. The comprehensive exam assesses students' understanding and application of nursing concepts, theories, and practices acquired throughout their program. Students will engage in a thorough review of essential topics, including medical-surgical nursing, pharmacology, maternal and child health, mental health, and community nursing. The exam will emphasize critical thinking, clinical reasoning, and evidence-based practice through a combination of multiple choice questions and case studies.

Key objectives of the course include:

  • Reinforcing core nursing knowledge and skills.
  • Enhancing test-taking strategies and time management during exams.
