Hebron University Faculty of Nursing Participates in a Training Workshop on Pain Management

Two staff members from Faculty of Nursing Mr. Yousef Jaradat and Mr. Ali Al-Batran participated in a specialized intensive course on management and treatment of pain, which was organized by the hospital of Bethlehem Arab Society for Rehabilitation. Groups of nurses, doctors, and other health professionals attended the course from different institutions at Bethlehem and Hebron districts. A specialized medical team from Belgium carried out the training that covered topics related to the definition of acute and chronic pain, in addition to discussing physical, psychological, social and emotional approaches of pain.

 

The workshop discussed the context of suffering and pain of the Palestinian people due to their living conditions that resulting in particular from the Israeli occupation. They discussed the reasons leading to the feeling of pain and its impact on the patient and his family from different physical and behavioral aspects.

Participants also discussed various measures that can be used to alleviate the pain and suffering, which includes drug treatment and means of minimizing the pain based on multidisciplinary team includes a doctor, nurse, health worker, physiotherapy and pharmacist, psychological and social worker. The activity Included practical training on degree of pain feeling from one person to another.

 

At the end of the workshop, it was agreed that this course will be followed by another advanced course in pain management early next 2013 year.  These activities come as a result of cooperation and partnership for Faculty of Nursing at Hebron University with the community institutions.
