Agricultural Environmental Management for Wadi Al-Semin
Project area
The area is in the southern part of Wadi al-Semin and includes the villages of Abu al-'Arqan, Abu al-Asja and al-Dhahiriya. The length of the valley in this area reaches 12 km. It passes through residential areas.
The area covers more than 30 thousand dunums( dunam =1000 metres) of agricultural land. Wadi al-Semin is fed by many other aqueducts (fresh water) but becomes polluted as soon as it reaches Wadi al-Semin. Olive trees constitute 70% of the trees in the area.
The valley is surrounded by a population of more than 50,000 people, according to the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics (PCBS, 2017) and many Israeli communities, such as the Hagai settlement, Atanail, the Sousse settlement and the Shama settlement.
