Hebron University Hosts Study Day in Europe

Hebron University  in cooperation with the European Union  and the Youth Pioneers Institution  hosted the open day for higher education in Europe which aims at  getting people acquainted with the systems and opportunities of education at  European universities and  to obtain  grants and scholarships.

Prof.Dr. Ahmad Atawneh President of Hebron University met  with Mr. David Gier  deputy representative of the European Union and official of aid unit. The University President talked about the stages of the establishment of the University,its development, academic programs, development plans and means of developing the relationship of the University with the office of the  representative of the European Union in the West Bank. On his part, Mr. Gier  expressed his admiration  of the academic level attained by the University, and this was through  a short tour which included  the different University facilities specially  laboratories of the Faculty of Agriculture, Chemistry laboratories and the University  Library. He emphasized the readiness of the European Union to cooperate with the University in several domains.

A seminar was held for the students of the Political Science Departement in the presence of the  chairman of the Department and its teaching staff. Mr. Gier talked about the  importance  and role of  the European Union in supporting the Palestinian Question on the political, economic, social and educational levels. There was a discussion between the students and Mr. Gier about the role of the Euraopean Union vis-à-vis the Judaization of Jerusalem, settlements, the two-state solution and the role  played by the European Union in putting pressure on Israel.

The European day included an exhibition”Study Day in Europe” which included  bulletins and information materials about the European institutions participating in this Day  including the Italian Consulate, the British Council,  the German Cultural Institute, the French Institute  and the  Youth Pioneers  institution. The exhibition was visited by a large number of students who are interested in studying in Europe.
