Hebron University participates in fourth and fifth Language Arts workshops
Dr. Mohammed Farrah, chairperson of the English Department, and Dr. Riyad Zahida, Director of Language Center, participated in the fourth and fifth Language Arts training workshops which were held at the Intercontinental Hotel Jericho between 22nd and 28th May 2012. It is worth mentioning that these workshops are held in partnership with An-Najah National University, Al-Quds University and Canterbury Christ Church University in England.
This is within the Language Arts Project “Developing the Teaching of the English Language". The theme of the workshop was "Teaching English Language Skills and Social Constructivism in Education" These workshops aimed at:
- Developing knowledge and understanding of key concepts and approaches to assessment and apply these to the renewal of English Language Programmes in the participating universities
- Linking this understanding to principles to social constructivist teaching and learning
- Developing assessment tasks to support the Intended Learning Outcomes of selected courses on the Language Arts curriculum
- Exploring the potential for using ICT for teaching and learning English
Training throughout the days of the workshop was carried out by, Richard Cullen, Martin Hyde and Carol Wild from Canterbury Christ Church University.
