HU Media Dept. Hosts US Professor for Symposium on Strategic Communication, Palestinian Narrative in Media

The Media Department at Hebron University has organized a seminar on strategic communication and its role in promoting the Palestinian narrative in American media, featuring Professor Anthony Kelso from Iona University, a former chair of strategic communication.

Professor Kelso shared his personal journey of initially accepting Zionist narratives about Palestine before questioning them as he engaged with liberal circles in the United States and studied historical texts about the region. He explained how he came to understand Palestinians as the oppressed indigenous people, contrary to the terrorist stereotypes promoted in American media.

The professor emphasized that Palestinian resistance represents a "natural response to occupation" and noted that the true Palestinian narrative has gained global traction, particularly after the 2023-2024 Gaza war. He credited Palestinian social media content with opening Western eyes to the reality of Israeli occupation, causing many Americans to reconsider their positions on the issue.
