The College of Education at Hebron University held an impactful awareness lecture on breast cancer, focusing on the disease’s risks, effects on women, and preventive strategies. Led by Dr. Jihad Shawer, a general surgery specialist, and educator Laila Khaddash, the lecture aimed to inform and inspire both students and faculty about the importance of early detection and prevention.

 

Dr. Shawer provided a detailed explanation of breast cancer, addressing its causes, prevention, and treatment options, while Khaddash shared her personal experience with the disease. She recounted her struggles, resilience, and approach to regaining normalcy, encouraging others to face the journey with strength and hope.

 

The event was attended by the Dean of the College, department heads, college professors, students, and members of the College of Medicine. The lecture concluded with a poignant short film highlighting the devastating impact of a mother’s loss to breast cancer on her family, underscoring the urgency of proactive prevention within the community.
