1st day celebrations of 49th Graduation Ceremony

Under the patronage of His Excellency Dr. Nabil Al-Jabari, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Hebron University, the University began the 1st-day celebrations of the 49th Graduation Ceremony for the Graduate and Undergraduate degrees from the colleges of Graduate Studies, Sharia, Science and Technology, Art, Finance and Management, and Law and Political Science, and Education. The ceremony was held in the presence of the members of the Board of Trustees, the Acting President of the University, Dr. Nabil Hassaneh, Vice Presidents of the University, representatives of official institutions and associations, and a large number of graduates' family members and friends.

Dr. Salah Al-Sharrouf, Dean of Student Affairs, led the processions of the graduates. It was followed by a parade of academic personnel led by the Vice President for Academic Affairs, Prof. Dr. Radwan Barakat. The processions finished with a procession of the Board of Trustees, led by His Excellency Dr. Nabil Al-Jabari, Chairman of the Board of Trustees.

Mr. Muhammad Al-Hashlamoun recited verses from the Holy Quran, followed by the Palestinian national anthem and the University anthem played by the University choir band.

Mrs. Suzanne Jabari, Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees, began her speech by paying honor to the spirits of martyrs and inmates who sacrificed their lives for the sake of their motherland. She greeted and welcomed the attendees on this joyous and radiant occasion, congratulating the students and their families on their graduation and the conclusion of one stage and the beginning of another with a hopeful future of success. She wished for the graduates to be responsible and righteous representatives of Hebron University.

In her speech, she expressed her appreciation and gratitude to Dr. Nabil Al-Jabari, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, who worked hard and continues to work to raise the Palestinian student and graduate with science and work sincerely to raise the name of Hebron University until it reaches the world.

She also emphasized the clear distinction in Palestinian society's culture in the orientation toward female education, as they make up the majority of students in Palestinian universities, which calls for pride in this society despite all of the obstacles it faces.

In exchange for this pride, Palestinian society faces a problem formed by young people's reluctance to enroll in universities and enter the labor market within Palestine, prompting it to appeal to the Palestinian government and civil society institutions to address this problem before it worsens establishing ways to open a labor market for young people and give work chances to encourage them to enroll in colleges, and then the Palestinian labor market and freedom from the new adage "Employment takes precedence over education."

Mrs. Jabari concluded by wishing the graduates a prosperous future filled with the fulfillment of their aims and objectives and blessing the parents for their children's achievement and graduation.

As a gesture of thanks, gratitude, and admiration for his efforts and devotion in serving Hebron University, students, and graduates, the Syndicate of Hebron University Employees gave a commemorative gift to Dr. Nabil Al-Jabari, Chairman of the Board of Trustees. The syndicate also handed a memento to Mrs. Carol Jabari in recognition of her persistent work, beginning with the foundation of the College of Nursing and continuing with the development of the Baytna Center to assist cancer patients, and to complement her ongoing efforts.

Dr. Nabil Al-Hassaneh, Acting President of the University, welcomed the attendees and shared feelings of pride and joy at the graduation of the 49th graduation ceremony of the university students, the University of Excellence and Giving, the incubator of science and scientists, and contributing to achieving a comprehensive renaissance by preparing generations of competencies whose numbers exceeded thirty thousand graduates who contributed their efforts to building a dear free homeland, and giving is still continuing.

He added that it is a source of pride for what the late founding Sheikh Muhammad Ali Al-Jabari did more than fifty years ago, which was a dream yesterday, and today it has become a lofty scientific edifice, and that Hebron University's achievements have grown during the reign of His Excellency the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Dr. Nabil Al-Jabari, so his sound opinions, and his diligent follow-up, had the greatest impact on the university's prosperity, progress and advancement, and its promotion and preservation of its achievements and educational and research gains, as well as strengthening its partnerships with the aim of upgrading it to the global stage.

He expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the academics and employees of the University, saying, "You have made a thankful tender and made your effort to provide high-quality education to students, and your scientific legacy will remain full of outstanding achievements."

In order to meet the needs of society and the labor market, he explained how the University has grown to include thirteen colleges today. These colleges offer one hundred and twenty academic programs; 78 at the bachelor's level, 22 at the master's level, three doctoral programs, and eighteen intermediate diploma programs. The number of university students has surpassed 10 thousand.

He emphasized the university's scientific and academic agreements with international and national universities and institutions, as well as academic achievements, as the university worked on a periodic review of plans and curricula to keep up with scientific and technological developments and labor market needs. In addition to focusing on practical training and varied activities aimed at graduating a remarkable student capable of innovation and entrepreneurship, the university strives to establish new academic programs that meet the demands of the labor market on a local and worldwide scale each year.

The University participated in the Times World University Rankings at the international level. According to the classification, the university ranked (3) at the Palestinian level and (45) at the Arab World level; Hebron University ranked second in Palestine and 40th globally in the global rankings of higher education, where higher education classification is an indicator of the quality of higher education. Hebron University also obtained membership in the United Nations Academic Impact Program, which is considered one of the most important memberships in the academic sector related to achieving the goals of the United Nations, and work was done to improve the site impact standard of the Webometrics World Ranking, so that the university advanced 6012 ranks globally. 

On the level of scientific research, he stated that more than 150 scientific papers have been published and presented in refereed scientific publications, and many agreements and memorandums of understanding have been formed with local, regional, and worldwide agencies. Scientific visits were also exchanged between our university's professors and students, as well as academics and students from overseas partner institutions, in academic programs under various initiatives.

Finally, he addressed the graduates, saying, "My graduates, you are the pillar of the nation, and societies are not built and promoted except by your likes, so be at our good expectations of you, righteous to your families who sacrificed and exerted precious until you come to what you have reached to be good builders of Palestine and contribute to its liberation and we assure you that we trust in your skills and abilities and we know that you will achieve success in all fields, I assure you that we trust in your skills and abilities Today, you are reaping the benefits of years of hard work at school, so congratulations and blessings for whatever your hands have accomplished.

Lana Karja, a graduate of the College of Finance and Management with first class honors and a grade of 94.7, made the graduates' word. She extended her deep thanks to Dr. Al-Jabari, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, as well as the university administration, professors and administrative personnel, university employees, and parents. 

It should be noted that the colleges of Pharmacy, College of Pharmacy & Medical Science, Information Technology, Agriculture, and Professions and Applied Sciences will have their ceremony on Thursday, 22/6/2023
