Abstract:
In this era of technological revolution, global technologies are leaving an increasing impact on language learning. Students and instructors alike have been affected substantially by the development of modern technological devices all over the world. In light of this situation, formal classrooms are not providing their best potentials as the primary environment for language teaching and learning. Consequently, the use of global technologies in education is becoming more widespread. The current study aimed to find out the role of using global technologies for improving English language skills from the perceptions of university students studying at An-Najah National University and Al-Quds Open University. To achieve this objective, a 28- item questionnaire was distributed electronically via the academic portals of the two institutions. 151 students responded to the questionnaire. The results revealed that the total degree of students’ responses was (4.12) which suggested a high level of perceptions. However, there were no statistically significant differences at (α = 0.05) on the total degree of perceptions between students due to the variables of gender, university and place of residence. In light of the results, the researchers offered some recommendations.
