Strengthened capacities for the creation of economic initiatives for women in the West Bank

Introduction 

“Strengthening the role of women in the promotion of an inclusive and sustainable economic development and equality between women and men in Palestine” is an initiative that is launched by the Palestine Information & Communication Technology Incubator (PICTI) in partnership with Women’s Technical Affairs Committee (WATC) and Alianza Por La Solidaridad (APS) in the frame of the project “Palestinian women enjoying their economic rights and promoting social change” funded by Generalitat De Valencia. The project partially focuses on strengthening capacities for the creation of economic initiatives for women in the West Bank. This designed-led initiative seeks to provide women entrepreneurs in the information and communication technology sector with the support needed to strengthen their full potential and promote the sense of equality between women and men in palestine. Those who have innovative and creative ideas that may address socio-economic issues are invited to submit their ideas with a clear proposal about their startups. 

Competition Objectives 

• Strengthen the role of women in the promotion of an inclusive and sustainable economic development in Palestine. 
• Develop and promote potential Palestinian business ideas that will either have an information, communications, or technological (ICT) focus or use technology as a main tool for promoting business ideas. 
• Promote the spirit of competition among Palestinian women entrepreneurs. 

Eligibility Criteria 

This is an open invitation to all Palestinian women entrepreneurs & innovators from the West Bank, who have an idea with an ICT-business focused solution or use technology as a main tool for promoting their business ideas. This challenge will culminate with a jury selection from the academy and business environment with a specialization in ICT (university professors, managers, business owners, etc.). 

Categories 

All categories that either have an information, communications, or technological (ICT) focus or use technology as a main tool for promoting business ideas are mostly welcomed. Women entrepreneurs whose ideas have a focus in Agriculture, Education and Health (with the integration of Technology) are highly encouraged to participate. 

Judgement Criteria 

• Problem trying to address. 
• Clear explanation of the idea.
• Visionary solution for the problem.
• Level of innovation.
• Professionalism of the idea’s concept.
• Impact of the solution.
• Financial sustainability.
• Potential employment generator especially for young females.
• The impact of the idea on women-related issues.
