Chairperson's Word

Welcome to the Department of Jurisprudence and Law, a division of the Faculty of Sharia, Hebron University. The Department was established in 2008 to grant a bachelor degree in jurisprudence and law. The Department of Jurisprudence and Law is an outstanding by every measure. It teaches law as it is being taught in other Palestinian and Arab universities, in addition to teaching the legal aspects of Sharia. Since Sharia is a primary source of Palestinian law, and one of the recognized global law schools, thus teaching Sharia in this Department gives graduates an extra advantage which is not available to their counterparts from other universities. This in turn puts graduates in a better position in contributing to the building of a society based on human rights and rule of law. Hence, the Department of Jurisprudence and Law seeks to train a selected group of specialists who are able to contribute to the development of Palestinian law, by offering knowledge and analytical tools necessary for the understand of the legal reality at present and to determine needs in accordance with the circumstances of the Palestinian society and Sharia standards, taking advantage of the legal developments at the Arab and international levels.
