Mission:
Welcome to the website of the Department of Jurisprudence and Law in Hebron University (HU). Since its inception in 2008, the Department has been seeking to bring distinguished students to study this unique specialization. HU is the only Palestinian university in which positive law is being taught systematically in comparison with Islamic Jurisprudence. Within this program, graduates would be enabled to gain a profound understanding of both the science of law and the science of jurisprudence. Practically, graduates could occupy all professions that require a bachelor's degree in law, such as becoming lawyers, judges or working in religious judiciary. Graduates can pursue their higher studies for masters and doctorate in law in all its branches, and in Islamic Jurisprudence as well, inside Palestine and abroad
The Department of Jurisprudence and Law at the University of Hebron aims to the preparation of a group of jurists familiar with the modern and Islamic sides of the law with a view to contribute to the advancement of the legal and judicial systems in Palestine. This program introduces modern teaching tools based on the highest academic standards developed at the international level, while drawing on the established legal principles that the Islamic system has brought to the humanity. The Islamic legal system, which is a source of law in Palestine, stands side by side with the Latin and Anglo-Saxon systems that influenced the applicable law in the country at the present time. Accordingly, graduates from this Department can work in law-related professions not only in Palestine, but also anywhere in the world.
