Academic Plan Developer

Hebron University has received a Grant from the Quality Improvement Fund (QIF) – Ministry of Education and Higher Education and funded by the World Bank for the project entitled: "Improving the Quality of Education Programs for Higher Basic Stage – Social Sciences Major”. The Grant aims at developing the social science teacher preparation programs for the higher education basic level (Grades 5-10) at Hebron University, An-Najah University, Bethlehem University, and Al Quds University to better comply with the requirements of the Teacher Education Strategy.

Assignment Objective

Assign a highly qualified consultant to assist in reviewing and developing the Social science academic plan at Palestinian Tertiary Education. The assignment will be delivered in cooperation with the International Consultant under the supervision of the Project Director and the Project Steering Committee.

By developing the academic plan, a special attention should be given to the requirements of section 2.3 of the Teacher Education Strategy and in particular to the standards that constrain the curriculum for teacher education programs identified in section 2.32 and the methods of teaching and learning at teacher education programs identified in section 2.33.   

  1. 1. Main Task and Responsibilities:

1. Review the Faculty documents.  This include current academic plan of Hebron University, and academic and social science courses at Palestinian universities, concept note for the Pre-service Teacher Education Development cycle, Teacher Education Strategy in Palestine.

2. Develop the related faculty documents, these include current Academic plan and others adapted academic plan in the other Palestinian universities

3. Prepare appropriate data collection instruments and procedures and make arrangements to administer them. These instruments should include questionnaires, interviews with faculty members at Palestinian universities.

4. Implement data collection procedures in coordination with the project director.

5. Submit a draft academic plan to the project steering committee, project director and international consultant for review.

6. Revise the draft academic plan based on feedback and recommendation from project director, steering committee and international consultant.

7. Finalized the academic plan and submit for approval

2. Deliverables

  1. Submit an evaluation report on the current situation after reviewing the current academic plans and the national education strategy.
  2. Submit an action plan to cover the Tasks within the time frame
  3. Submit a draft academic plan for review
  4. Submit the finalized academic plan for approval
  5. Submit final reports including all detailed assignment, collected data, collection tools, academic plan.etc….

3. Qualifications & Skills:

Hebron University seeks a consultant with the minimum following qualifications:

  • Familiar with the Palestinian education system and the Teacher Education Strategy in Palestine
  • PHD in social sciences or education from a credited university Minimum 5 years’ experience on Academic, Governance and Teaching.
  • Experience in Academic Plan development and a proven record in developing Academic Plans
  • Experience with different developing methodologies and teaching strategies.
  • Good communication and writing skills in English and Arabic.
  • Excellent Computer skills
  • Experience in using Outlook 
  • The consultant cannot be on the Palestinian Hebron University payroll  

Time Frame:  Two to Three months

Contract Type: Lump Sum contract
